The Coys car being auctioned at the weekend seems like a top car , although I am only reading the auctioneers description and they are never to be read seriously but assuming its correct , then this car has had £50k spent on it easily. If it gets its low estimate then the seller wil get between 75-80k. I hope there are two bidders that take it up and the seller gets a return ( there may well be. )

I am not trying to drive prices down but I do know what needs to be spent to get a car going well for competitions

I sold my 16v Delta to Walkers garage about two years ago, they know the cars very well, maybe it would be worthwhile giving them a ring to ask them whats what. Mine was a corking little car that just stuck to the road like glue

Some really nice cars in the Coys auction there but really sometimes the descriptions are a laugh...

I particularly liked the Ferrari 308 description which repeatedly mentions it as a "288"...

Love the RS1800 and I thought they were worth more due to their relative rarity. And what's with the Lotus Carltons... Seems everyone is trying to flog them now...

The thing i hate about auction houses is that they always say quote "the description was provided by the owner" , thats just a cop out to avoid any legal action should the car be misdescribed in any way.
You would think with the fees they charge both vendors and buyers that they would at least use their own accurate descriptions, i am sure there must have been some out of court settlements with some misdescribed sales.
Some cars are a complete pile of cr#p with a nice new paint job hiding all sorts of nasties.
Even at auctions its
buyer beware

That's part of the BonkeRS collection, sounds like he has some nice ford RS examples in his collection 8-) , its on pistonheads and ebay as well.

Just googled the Bonkers collection and it looks like the guy might have been a Ford dealer. There are some mundane cars there but they all seem to be in reasonable condition. Bonkers seems the appropriate word to decribe them .

I have bid on something completely different and the chap will give me his answer this week as he tends to mull things over.

3pm is the kick off for the auction - It will be interesting to see what the RS's in general go for. There's an Escort Mk2 2000, 2 x RS500 Sierras and the RS200.

If it wasn't so damn far to drive it would have been good to go and watch.

Any idea how the undrivable Evo with reputed 700bhp did at Coys.

It had to have recent expenditure of £50k
